Duck Pond

Shallow water and cattails, home to a mixed flock of Pekins, Khaki Campbells, and Indian Runners — the tall upright ones that walk like they're late for something. A duck's feathers stay dry through all of it, waterproofed with oil the bird spreads from a gland near its tail during those long preening sessions on the bank. Feed pellets are available at the boardwalk dispenser, and they're the only food the ducks should be getting; bread does real harm to a bird's health and to the pond itself.
