A warthog doesn't dig its own home — it takes over an abandoned aardvark burrow, backing in tail-first so its tusks stay pointed at the entrance all night. Piglets are born in that burrow and follow their mother out in single file, tails held straight up like radio antennas so nobody gets lost in tall grass. For an animal built low and heavy, they're surprisingly quick: a warthog at full run tops 30 miles per hour, which is usually enough to reach the next hole before anything catches up.
