Sea Turtles

A sea turtle can't pull its head or legs into its shell — everything about it is built for open water instead, with flippers that work more like wings than paddles. Females return to the same stretch of beach where they hatched to lay their own eggs, navigating thousands of miles of ocean to find it, and researchers still don't fully understand how they manage it. The turtles here arrived injured — boat strikes, fishing line, illness — and several are rehabilitating for release back into the wild.
