Hedged quadrants radiate from a central fountain, planted with hybrid teas, floribundas, and old garden roses whose lineages run back centuries. Each bed is labeled with the variety and the year it was introduced — some of these roses were growing in gardens before the country was founded. Walk the inner ring for scent, where the most fragrant varieties are planted closest to the path.
